高三英语培优外刊阅读 班级:____________学号:____________姓名:____________ 外刊精选| 从万人夸到万人骂,基金经理为何跌落神坛? China’s Mutual-Fund Stars Go From Boom to Backlash By Raffaele Huang China’s $3 trillion mutual-fund industry drew throngs of individual investors in thrall to market-beating star managers. But the Chinese market has slumped, dragging the funds down with it, and the stars who were once heroes are now targets of online ire. Industry heavyweight Zhang Kun of E Fund Management Co. hasn’t been spared. Mr. Zhang manages the equivalent of $20.7 billion, across four funds, the highest tally for an equity-fund manager in China, Wind data shows. In his first-quarter updates to fundholders, Mr. Zhang urged investors to evaluate companies based on intrinsic value. If not, he wrote, “it’s easy to get caught up in chasing after the highs and lows” of fluctuating stocks. But the broader backlash seems manageable. While some fund launches have been canceled because of lack of interest, total assets under management held by mutual funds have continued to rise, albeit more slowly, and few of the highest-profile funds have suffered outflows. It is nevertheless a painful comedown for an industry that thrived in the aftermath of the pandemic. Millions of young people, cooped up at home and anxious about their financial future, were drawn to funds by market-beating returns, social-media hype and apps that made it easy to invest, sometimes as little as a few cents at a time. 【词汇过关】 请写出下面文单词在文章中的中文意思。 1.mutual-fund____________________________ 2.market-beating____________________________ 3.slump [slʌmp] v. ____________________________ 4.drag [dræɡ] v. ____________________________ 5.ire [a
