On February 13, 2025, the Harvard Office for the Arts (OFA) hosted a special celebration to mark its 50th birthday. The event, held from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, was an unforgettable evening filled with live music, dance, storytelling, poetry and visual arts. It highlighted the contributions of students and alumni (
校友
) who have shaped Harvard’s lively arts community over the past five decades.
The celebration featured performances by a variety of student groups, including the Harvard Undergraduate Bhangra, Harvard University Band, Omo Naija X Wahala Boys, First-Year Musical, Kuumba Singers of Harvard College, Mariachi Veritas de Harvard, and the Harvard Choruses. Other highlights included traditional RAZA Folklorico dances, Celtic music and dance, opera performances, and a special appearance by The Handsome Boys Pickin’ Band.
In addition to the performances, the event included storytelling sessions with well-known alumni such as Diane Paulus and Karina Cowperthwaite, actor Courtney B. Vance and Bronwyn Vance, visual artist Tiffany Onyeiwu, theater artist Maranatha Paul, former OFA director Jack Megan, President Alan Garber, and President Emerita Drew Gilpin Faust.
Following the performances, guests enjoyed art-making in Annenberg Dining Hall. The celebration was a rare opportunity to experience the rich artistic heritage of Harvard University and to celebrate the OFA’s significant impact on students’ life.
