The 2025 Nebraska Severe Weather Awareness Poster Contest (

) is underway. It is open to all third-grade students in Nebraska public and private schools. Teachers are encouraged to have students participate.
Contest Rules:
● Entries (

) must be related to the theme of extreme weather safety and will be judged on originality and effort. The posters should explain the dangers of extreme weather in Nebraska clearly. Lightning and flooding are good topic choices.
● All entries must be made on a white sheet of paper measuring 11 inches by 17 inches. Any medium may be used, but please do not use shiny materials.
● Only one entry is allowed per pupil and no joint entries (posters by more than one person) will be accepted.
Submission (

All entries must be received by the local Emergency Management Director on or before April 7, 2025. A list of directors can be found at
www.naem.us

nema.nebraska.gov
. Remember to allow enough time for mailed items to get where they need to be.
Awards and Recognition:
● Prizes: 1st place: a $125 gift card; 2nd place: a $100 gift card; 3rd place: a $75 gift card; 4th place: a $50 gift card. There will be one winner for each place in the state-level competition.
● Teachers are encouraged to contact the local emergency management director to help choose the top three entries from their school. If the local director is unknown, please contact Brian Woldt, poster contest chairman, at (308)324-2070.
● Winners will be contacted by telephone or mail. The four state contest winners will be invited
to the Nebraska State Capitol for the presentation of their awards
